Meet Brandy Mimms:
                       Choreographer and Dance Educator

Brandy R. Mimms, is a DeafBlind dancer, choreographer, educator, and arts leader based in Arkansas. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography from Jacksonville University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Originally from New Orleans, Brandy uses dance as a language of connection, access, and storytelling rooted in lived experience. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Listen With Your Eyes Dance Troupe, an inclusive company established in 2019 that creates professional opportunities for Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard-of-Hearing, and hearing dancers. Her work has been presented nationally, including at the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival and Connecticut Deaf Theatre, and she has performed for four consecutive years in Ballet Arkansas’ annual production of The Nutcracker. Brandy also serves as a CTE Dance Educator at the Arkansas School for the Deaf. Her graduate thesis explores DeafBlind choreographic practice through touch and spatial awareness, challenging dance’s reliance on sight and sound. Through choreography, teaching, and advocacy, Brandy R. Mimms continues to expand access and reshape what dance can be.
